mynextcity come eravamo (50 YY): Subbuteo

When soccer was still a reason to dream. The memory of when you lay the "football field" on a carpet, looking out  for not creating small depressions on it. The endless games with your brothers and friends, football teams in their little box from your favorites ... (the "Magica" and the mythical Brazil) to those more 'unknown and colorful (the Wholverhampton) to those remember your childhood in a distant continent (Peñarol Montevideo). The repair of injured players with pounds of glue between the ankles and hemispheric support. All this and much more was Subbuteo.

Some technical notes for the few who had lost the fascination of the challenges on the legendary green cloth:

As for the soccer game , Subbuteo was born in Britain in 1947 from an idea by Peter Adolph, who took up a game created in the thirties by WL Keelings, the New Footy. In the nineties Subbuteo Sports Games Ltd, manufacturer of the game, was acquired by the U.S. Hasbro, which, however, in 2000 stopped production in view of the new football video game. In Italy production continued until 2003 under a license granted to the local distributor, Emilio Parodi.

The basic box contained only strictly useful accessories for the match, like a green cloth, ports, balls and two generic teams. The numerous available accessories gave the opportunity to create a real stadium, with platforms full of spectators, scoreboard, benches, lights for "night games", the TV cameras, miniature representing ball boy, police, coach ,junior varsity....
